The opportunity: CFD/Thermal Application Engineer
To support our continued growth, we are looking for ambitious, motivated individuals to join our team of Support and Engineering Services. We are looking for a CFD/Thermal Application Engineer to be part of our exciting and motivated team in the UK and Europe.
As CFD/Thermal Application Engineer, you will work closely with current and potential customers to understand their engineering workflow and processes and propose solution methodologies and best ways of working to help them meet their objectives. You will be operating in various sectors, such as Aerospace, Energy, Automotive, and Marine. This position is an opportunity to be at the forefront of companies’ innovative usage of simulation in industrial and research environments.
What to expect as the main responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Maya staff to provide the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ users with an excellent technical support
- Be the technical point of contact for multiple accounts, identify their engineering problems as well as their issues with Simcenter STAR-CCM+, and propose solutions. Solutions can include software products, consulting services, and custom software development
- Draft Simcenter STAR-CCM+ based services proposals addressing customers’ needs and carry out engineering services for them
- Conducting training courses, product demonstrations and customized mentoring covering a broad range of applications
- Troubleshoot user models and recommend best practices and modeling guidelines to improve customer satisfaction and productivity
- Perform benchmark simulations and test cases to explore new methods, define best practices and verify results
- Following and using the new modelling techniques and features introduced in each release of Simcenter STAR-CCM+, finding new application areas, and creating new simulation examples
- Consistently improve our understanding of customer workflows and provide feedback to the product and development teams
- Enabling the use of automated design space exploration and optimization
- Actively participate in pre-sales activities related to software or services sales
You will be successful in this role if you have:
- A Degree (MSc, PhD preferred) in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or a similar discipline
- Minimum 3 years of industrial experience with Simcenter STAR-CCM+ or similar CFD software tools analyzing the reacting flows
- Solid understanding of theories and fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics and Conjugate Heat Transfer
- Broad-based knowledge of the methods and practices in CFD
- Familiarity with common numerical methods employed in scientific computing for physical simulations
- Advanced level user of Simcenter STAR-CCM+
- Experience using CAD tools, NX experience a plus
- Experience in FloEFD and Simcenter 3D are a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to learn new skills and adapt to customer application needs
- Must have customer satisfaction at heart
- Display initiative and ability to work independently as well as with others
- Ability and willingness to occasionally travel locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally
- Ability to travel between UK and France with no restrictions
- Ability to work with remotely distributed team
Nice to have:
- Different CFD Software tools and open source codes
- FEA tools such as Simcenter 3D or equivalent commercial/open source codes
- 1D System Simulation tools such as Simcenter AMESim or equivalent commercial / open source codes
- Experience in Turbomachinery or Automative industry is an asset
- Experience in Hydrogen industry is an asset
